Una petizione per la musica a Varsavia

Dear Friends,

Please sign this petition to save Warsaw Chamber Opera – Please re-send it yo your friends, family and music lovers.

These are difficult times now, and Warsaw Chamber Opera, an institution which for more then 50 years has been promoting Polish and international music culture, has been brought to a position where it must address the issues of its future existence, the fact caused by some dramatic cuts in its funding. Every year the Warsaw Chamber Opera is holding multiple classical and modern music festivals, including the world’s unique annual Mozart festival, a six-week event, which every year is staging all Mozart operas as well as some smaller works. Multiple new works have been composed for the Warsaw Chamber Opera, including many operas that were written especially for its modern music festival. The Warsaw Chamber Opera has greatly fulfilled its pioneering role in Early Music movement by establishing a full-time orchestra with original instruments more then 40 years ago, and returning many forgotten masterpieces of the past back to the stage. Through its leading director, Stefan Sutkowski, the Warsaw Chamber Opera released a number of CDs and stood behind the production of the unique multivolume publication “History of Polish Music”. In this connection, I appeal to you, Minister, to place the Warsaw Chamber Opera under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and grant it the status of a National Cultural Institution.
